Description
Cordyline australis, commonly known as the cabbage tree, is a striking evergreen plant native to New Zealand. It features long, sword-shaped leaves that grow in a rosette at the top of a tall, slender trunk, giving it a palm-like appearance. The plant can reach heights of up to 10 meters and produces large, fragrant clusters of small white to pinkish flowers in summer, which are followed by purple berries. Cordyline australis is popular in ornamental gardening for its dramatic, tropical look and adaptability to a range of climates, thriving in both coastal and inland areas. It is a symbol of New Zealand.
