Description
Carex dissita, commonly known as forest sedge, is a clump-forming, evergreen sedge native to New Zealand. It thrives in damp forests, along stream banks, and in shaded, moist areas, growing up to 60 cm tall. The plant features arching, bright green, narrow leaves and produces delicate, brownish flower spikes in spring and summer. Carex dissita is valued for its ability to stabilize soil, control erosion, and provide habitat for native wildlife. It is commonly used in ecological restoration and landscaping for its resilience, low-maintenance nature, and ability to thrive in shaded, wet conditions.
